A decision to operate all-night ferry services across Auckland Harbour has been made. by the Devonport Steam Ferry Company Limited, states the New Zealand Herald. The services are included in the summer time-table, to be in force from December 1 to April 14. Passengers will be accommodated on the vehicular ferry, the vessel travelling between the vehicular landings, and a covered-in portion will be available for travellers. Ordinary fares _ will be in force, as against the additional charge made on the night launches at present running, and season tickets can be used on the trips. The night launches will continue to be run. The last passenger ferry from the city to Devonport at present leaves at midnight, and the last vehicular ferry ten minutes later. The last vehicular journey from Devonport is at 12.30 a.m. Under the new timetable there will be four early morning ferries to Devonport between the present last journey and a boat to run at 4.10 a.m. The new service will also provide for two additional night journeys to Birkenhead and one to Northcote. The smart new summer frocks, hats, coats and ensembles at Scanlan’s are good to look at, let alone wear. If new clothes act like a tonic there must be a lot of ladies going about feeling like new women judging by the brisk business doing at the popular Melbourne Comer.
