AMATEUR ATHLETICS
NEW PLYMOUTH CLUB AFFAIRS. ARRANGEMENTS FOR SEASON. The executive of the New Plymouth Amateur Athletic and Cycling Club washeld last night, when there were present Dr. G. H. Thomson (chairman), Messrs. C. H. Croker, G. Sullivan, C. H. Doughty, H. L. Thomson, N. J. T. Webster, R. L. Hains, F. S. Varnham, J. W. Hollows, and the secretary, Mr. C. S. Woods. Messrs. Sullivan, Doughty, M. Charteris and Webster were appointed a subcommittee the tentative arrangements for the meeting on Boxing Night. Mr. Charteris was .elected to fill a vacancy on the executive. It was decided to endeavour to arrange for the appearance of some well-known exponent on Boxing Night, preferably the Auckland distance runner J. W. Savidan. A long discussion ensued regardmg the starting time of the evening meetings, but no definite arrangement was arrived at. T -X It was recommended that short limit and scratch races be placed on the programme at the discretion of the handicapper. There was a gathering of officials prior to this meeting, when Dr. Thomson explained the duties and the general arrangements for the evening meetings.
