CALF JUDGING BEGUN

BOYS AND GIRLS’ CLUBS’ EVENTS. RESULTS AT FOUR CENTRES. The 1934 calf judging in the South Taranaki Boys and Girls’ Agricultural Clubs’ Association was begun yesterday, when the entries from the Ohangai, Meremere, Whakamara and Mokoia schools were judged by Mr. L. S. Barraclough (dairy condition) and Mr. W. R. Butler (dairy type l ). Mr. Rod Syme, agricultural officer to the Taranaki Education Board, was in charge. Entries from the four schools were good and the standard of the calves was excellent, particularly at Whakamara, where eight very even animals were paraded. Both judges gave favourable comment and at all schools outlined their reasons for the choice of calves. Marsh, secretary, visited each school with the judges and addressed the children. Points in the dairy condition class were 100 for condition and 30 for chart. Details are: — OHANGAI SCHOOL.
