BOTH SATISFIED
CASE AGAINST KINGSFORD SMITH.
SETTLEMENT MADE OUT OF COURT. By Telegraph—Press Assn.—Copyright. Rec. 5.5 p.m. „ Los Angeles, Nov. 9. Mr. Thomas R. Catton’s suit against the Lady Southern Cross was settled out of court to-day for what Mr. Catton’s attorneys said was a satisfactory sum, but which Sir Charles Kingsford Smith’s lawyer, Mr. Leo Goodman, termed a nominal sum.
The action was the result of Mr. Catton claiming 2750 dollars as payment for services rendered Sir Charles in 1928. Sir Chales denied that Mr. Catton had performed any such services. The plane was attached when Sir Charles landed at Los Angeles after his record Pacific flight last week. The seizure of the machine struck an ironic note in the homage paid by the United States to the great aviator.
