ATHLETES’ DIVORCE
MORGAN-WILSON CASE CONTINUES. STATEMENTS OF UNHAPPINESS. By Telegraph—Press Association. Wellington, Nov. 10. The divorce action between Edward Morgan, a boxer (petitioner), and his wife, formerly Norma Wilson, the athlete, who participated in the 1928 Olympic Games, was resumed to-day. Respondent said that they became engaged on their return from the 1928 Olympic Games, but she broke the engagement after two years. Last year she met him at Wellington, _ and three weeks later they were married. They spent two months at Brisbane, during which he did no work. He earned no money and really lived on her money. Generally speaking throughout the whole of her married life she had been unhappy. Responaent denied going to a dance at Gisborne with Marsh and the suggestion of misconduct with him .was untrue. When she arrived at Wellington from Gisborne she told Morgan that she was going to leave him because of his cruelty and had been advised to get a policeman to protect her. Morgan said there was no reason for that, and if she came and got her things he would not touch her. He said that if she drew the money out of the bank she could get a divorce. His-Hoitour: You wanted a divorce? Respondent: We both wanted it. The court adjourned till Monday.
