SECOND ROUND COMMENCES. BRIXTON SECURES ANOTHER WIN. The second round of the North Taranaki country junior competition. . was commenced On Saturday, when Brixton and Tikorangi again secured wins and maintained their respective positions aS leader and runner-up, Brixton still being undefeated. TIKORANGI BEATS TARURUTANGI. Playing at Tikdrangi the home team defeated Tarurutangi by an innings and 20 runs. Tarurutangi batted first but could score only 42. L. Bishop, 20, was the only man to make a score against the bowling of G. Jupp, six wickets for 12 runs. Tikorangi replied with 132, G. Jupp scoring 61 retired, M. Sarten 24 and A. Soffe 29. L. Bishop captured seven wickets for 23 runs. In a second innings Tarurutangi did better, scoring 71. A. Old, not out 21, and L. Bishop, 17, were the highest scorers. M. Soffe captured three wickets for 11 funs. Mangorei played Brixton at Brixton, the. home team winning by 106 runs on the first innings. Brixton batted first and declared with eight wickets down for 135. Niven, 74 retired, played a great innings, his score including two sixes and nine fours. G. Bishop, 19, was the only other double-figure scorer for Brixton. Mangorei had an hour and ahalf to bat, but was all out for 29, O. Balsom playing a valuable innings for 18. A. Hopson, three wickets for two runs, E. Richards four for four runs, and H. Purdie two for four runs, bowled well for Brixton.
