POWER OF “BIG THREE”

FRUIT BOARD TAKES NO ACTION. AMENDMENTS ANTICIPATED. By Telegraph—Press Association. Hastings, Last Night , The statement that the New Zealand Fruit Control Board had decided to take no action in regard to the Agricultural Amendment (Emergency Powers) Bill was made by Mr. Ralph Paynter, chairman of the board, when speaking at a. meeting of fruitgrowers at Hastings. “The board has decided to take no action,” said Mr. Paynter. “The ‘big three’ will have wide powers, but it is quite possible that some alterations will be made in the committee stages. Personally I think fruit growers would be well advised to leave the matter alone. Tilt Bill has not yet passed the committee stage and there is every likelihood of alterations being made to it.’*
