PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH RECORD. THE REV. J. A. ASHER TO RETIRE. By Telegraph—Press Association. Hastings, Last Night ; The Rev. J. A. Asher has advised members of St. Paul’s Church, Napier, that it is his intention at an early date to resign to the Presbytery of Hawke’s Bay the charge of St. Paul’s, which was entrusted to him some 36 years ago. It will be 44 years this month since Mr. Asher was ordained at Gore and at the present time no other man in active ministry in the Presbyterian Chureh can look back to so long a period of active service.
