COUNTY COUNCIL CONCESSION. MOTORISTS OBJECT TO SOURCE. To correct a possible impression that motorists as a body objected to the proposed 12J per cent, rebate on county rates, Mr. W. A. O’Callaghan, president of the North Island Motor Union, in an interview with the News at Hawera yesterday, said that the union raised no objection to the rebate. The impression might have been given in the interview published in yesterday’s News, he said, that they did. What the motorists objected to was that the rebate charge should come out of the Highways Funds.
