RACING AT RICCARTON VINTAGE WINS FENDALTON. _____ ' CRANFORD AND RED BOA.

By Telegraph—Press Association. Christchurch, Last Night. The Canterbury Jockey Club’s metropolitan meeting was continued to-day. The weather was fine, the course in good order and there was an excellent attendance. Investments totalled £22,451, compared with £13,485 10s last Derby day, when heavy rain fell. Results are:— MIDDLETON HANDICAP. Of £2OO. Nine furlbngs. 8-10—SEMPER PARATUS, 10.6 (Ridgway) J; 4-S—HONEST MAID, 9.2 (Voight) .. 2 13-14—EARTHQUAKE, 9.2 (Anderton) Also started: 1-4 Emotion, 10.13; 3-3 Cottingham, 10.6; 10-9 Sungem, 10.5; 4-1 Heather Glow, 10.5; 6-6 Revision, 9.11; 2-2 Hunting Go, 9.9; 11-12 Palatinate, 9.6; 7-7 Sky Rover, 9.2; 12-11 Coll, 9.0; 9-8 Chaste, 9.0; 14-13 Streamline, 9.0. Semper Paratus led into the straight from Honest Maid and Earthquake, with Revision, Emotion, Heather Glow and Cottingham next. In a close finish Semper Paratus won by half a length from Honest Maid. Earthquake was a neck away and Revision was fourth. Time, lm. 55 3-ss.

On the course proper Symcony led from Silver Sail, Round Up, Hine Ra, Hororata, Penelope and Honours Lad. In the run to the post Silver Sail won by half a length from Symcony, with Round Up a neck away and Hororata fourth. Time, 47 4-ss. CRITERION HANDICAP. Of £3OO. Seven furlongs.

The leaders were still the same when the straight was reached, but Crakford did best in the run home and ■won by half a length from Mobile, with Gaysome a similar distance away and Silver Streak fourth. Ellis) 1 2- SYNAGOGUE (Broughton) .... 2 3- TAURAMAI (Didham) 3 Also started: 4-5 Horn's Reef, 7-7 Won-; derful, 5-4 Pin Money, 6-6 Pawky. Hom's Reef, Sporting Blood and Synagogue were first to show out. Pin Money tok charge going out of the straight and led past the mile from Wonderful, Horn’s Reef, Tauramai, Sporting Blood, Pawky and Synagogue. There was no change in the positions racing along the back and round the far turn. Tauramai moved up across the top and led into the straight from Pin Money, Sporting Blood, Hom’s Reef and Synagogue. In a close finish Sporting Blood beat Synagogue by a neck, with Tauramai three lengths away and Wonderful fourth. Time, 2m. 33 2-ss.

Passion Fruit led past the mile from Davolo, Steeton, Vintage, Horowhenua and Silver Sight. Steeton led at the far turn from Davolo, Passion Fruit, Cough, Ranelagh, Horowhenua, Vintage, Silver Sight and Polydora. Steeton was still in command turning for home, followed by Davolo, Ranelagh, Passion Fruit, Silver Sight, Vintage and Polydora. Vintage did best over the concluding stages and won by half a length from Silver Sight, with Polydora a neck away and Passion Fruit fourth. Time, 2m. 4s.

RANDOLPH HANDICAP. Of £2OO. Seven furlongs. 1- REBEL CHIEF, 9.3 (L. J. Ellis) 1 2- TOP RANK, 8.3 (B. H. Morris) 2 3- COLOSSIAN, 8.5 (A. E. Rebel Chief was followed into the straight by Elbanor, Top Rank, Horotiu, Colossian, Braw Lad and Silver Step.
