Miss M. Morgan left Auckland by the Monowai on Tuesday en route to Melbourne.

Mrs. H. R. Wright, Birdwood Avenue, has returned after having spent a few days’ holiday at Wellington. Mrs. J. A. Valentine has returned from Timaru.

Mrs. R. J. Deare has left for a holiday at Auckland.

Miss R. Edgecombe was hostess at a small bridge party on Tuesday evening. Miss 0. Kay, Hawera, visited New Plymouth during the week. Mrs. Keith Angus has arrived from Auckland on a visit to her mother, Mrs. F. Carthew.

Mrs. M. L. Atkinson entertained at bridge on Thursday evening. Mrs. C. Morey, Te Awamutu, and Mrs. J. Ramson, Auckland, are visiting New Plymouth for the Morey-Whitwell wedding. Mrs. F. G. Evans was hostess at an afternoon tea and garden party at her home on Thursday. Mrs. O. F. Mclntyre, who has been visiting the South Island, returned to New Plymouth by the Waiwera on Wednesday. Miss U. Trolove,- who has been visiting Miss B. Sumner, left yesterday afternoon to return to Eltham. Mrs. H. Cowling left on Thursday for a holiday at Wanganui. Miss J. McNeill will leave by the express this morning for a holiday at Napier.

Miss Maxwell, Tauranga, arrived by car yesterday to spend a few days as the guest of Mrs. Maxwe’ll, Rahotu.

Miss I. Musker and Miss Gaffner have returned to New Plymouth after spending a holiday at Wellington. Mrs. C. E. Dinniss, after spending several days at New Plymouth, returned to Dannevirke during the week. Mrs. W. H. Mrs. R. H. Tod, who was the guest of Miss J. Home on a short visit, returned to Otane on Thursday. Dr. Jessie Maddison and Miss Gumbleton, Auckland, are visiting New Plymouth and are staying at the White Hart Hotel. Mrs. H. McAllum and Miss Margaret McAllum, Dunedin, who have b4en visiting New Plymouth, left on Thursday on their return.

I Sympathy with Mrs. L. Chivers, secretary of the Fitzroy Croquet Club, in the death of her father was expressed by the Taranaki Croquet Association yesterday. Mrs. J. Moxon, Palmerston North, Mrs J. Turner and Miss Kathleen Turner, Wellington, are the guests of Mrs. E. Whitwell for the Morey-Whitwell wedding, which will take place to-day. Miss Evelyn Edgar, Christchurch, who has been acting as judge of dancing at competition festivals in Australia, returned to New Zealand on Wednesday after an absence of ten weeks. Miss M. Wynyard, who has been visiting Mrs. C. H. Wynyard, left during the week on her return to Devonport, Auckland.

Mrs. Eric Ellerm, who has been a visitor to New Plymouth for several weeks, returned last night to her home at Auckland.

Mrs. A. M. Crawford was the guest of Mrs. J. Power during the week and left by car yesterday for Auckland.

Miss A. Hamann left on Thursday to visit Dunedin and will leave later in the month on a trip to Australia. Mrs. Oscar Symes, Auckland, will arrive on Monday morning to spend a holiday at New Plymouth. She will stay at the Hotel Criterion.

Miss Enid White, who has been granted leave of absence from the Hamilton High School, has arrived to spend three weeks’ holiday with her mother, Mrs. Percy White. Miss Mavis Holmes is the guest of Mrs. W. Holmes, “Holmleigh,” Bell Block. Mrs. H. G. Wilson, New Plymouth, and her daughter Beth returned from Wellington yesterday. Mrs. A. J. Harrop and family, London, who have been spending several months in the Dominion, will leave New Plymouth to-day for Napier and will sail by the Tamaroa on Tuesday to return home.
