BUTTER MARKET DEPRESSED. DEMAND FOR CHEESE STEADY. The London butter market remains depressed, according to a cable received at New Plymouth yesterday by Mr. H. M. Thomson, representative of the An-glo-Continental Produce Company. First grade butter is quoted at 62s and finest at 655. The cheese market is steady, the price for white and coloured being 48s 6d. SYDNEY WOOL SALES. •PRICES FAVOUR SELLERS. By Telegraph—Press Assn.—Copyright. Rec. 10.5 p.m. Sydney, Oct. 17. At the wool sales to-day 10,913 bales were offered and 10,038 sold. Privately 2508 bales were sold. There was strong Japanese, Yorkshire and Continental competition for the best descriptions. Fleece and skirtings ruled distinctly in sellers’ favour. All other sorts were firm. Greasy Merino sold to 15d for 28 bales from Scone.
