TEACHER TRAINING
PROVISION AT CAPITAL SOUGHT.
WELLINGTON EDUCATION BOARD. By Telegraph—Press Association. Wellington, Oct. 17. The Wellington Education Board, carried a motion that the board strongly represent to the Minister of Education the advisability of providing for the training of teachers at Wellington when he decides to resume the training of young people for the teaching profession. The discussion brought out the question of whether teachers’ training should be carried out in conjunction with university colleges or separately. The motion originally proposed was for a training college at Wellington, but this would necessitate building, and the motion as carried was referred to as “a clever bit of tactics,” which satisfied the divergent views of members.
