“CAMPAIGN FOR CHEIST.”
The inaugural meeting of the “Campaign for Christ” mission, by the united churches of New Plymouth will be held in St Andrew’s Presbyterian Church to- . night at 7.30, and will be preceded by a song service at 7.15. A team of visiting missioners has been secured for the campaign, which will extend over ten days. The Rev. Ernest Nicholls, a member of the team, is a Baptist minister of outstanding gifts. Before entering the ministry he had a very varied experience, including a period in the London police force, furnishing him with a wealth of material with which to illustrate his messages. Another member is the Rev. J. A. Ryburn, who for several years' was a Presbyterian missionary in the Punjab, India. A nephew of Mr.Ryhurn’s is the: principal of the High School at Khara, in the Punjab. The Rev. Thos. Skuse, a fluent Welshman who spent his earlier days as a miner, and gained much practical knowledge of life and its needs in the “university of hard knocks,” is one of the Methodist members of the team, the other being the Rev. Raymond Dud-' ley, M.A., F.R.E.S. Mr. Dudley is a young man of great gifts. Bom of Indian parents in Fiji, he was educated ; at Auckland and Sydney.
