TENNIS AT WAITARA
MEETING ELECTS OFFICERS. JUNIOR MEMBERS PROVISION. The annual meeting of the Waitara Lawn Tennis Club was held on Monday. The paesident, Dr. R. L. Barclay, presided over an attendance of 12. The balance-sheet showed receipts, including balance brought forward of £8 2s 3d, at £69 9s Id and the expenditure was £67 4s Bd, leaving a credit balance of £2 4s sd. The following new members were elected: Messrs. R. Telfar, W. L. Wright, A. Wright, C. Nicholls, I. G. Prichard and E. B. McGinty. Officers elected were: President, Dr. R. L. Barclay; vice-presidents, Messrs. L. H. Sampson, W. R. Johns, S. G. Fraser and Dr. G. P. Adamson; club captain, Mr. R. H. Early; secretary and treasurer, Mr. G. A. Hutton; auditor, Mr. A. J. 'Wells; delegate to Taranaki Association, Mr. J. C. Smith; committee, Messrs. C. R. Stead, J. C. Smith, A. J. Wells and Misses H. Johnstone and L. Gorrie; match committee, Mr. A. Chadwick, captain and secretary; selector, Mr. C. R. Stead. It was decided that provisions be made to admit juvenile members between the age of 10 and 15 years at a subscription of ss. Such members are to have the use of the hard court and may be in-
vited by senior players to participate in a game on the grass courts. It was decided that the official opening be held on November 3. It was decided that on match days one grass court be made available for those members not playing in the match. A recommendation was made to the incoming committee to consider the advisability of not playing in the Soffe Cup competition this season. The secretary, Mr. G. A. Hutton, was voted an honorarium equal to the amount of the annual subscription. Club colours were discussed and it was finally decided that their selection be left in the hands of the committee, a monogram to be included as a third colour if necessary. The revised rules of the club were adopted.
