BUTTER PRICES WEAK

NEW RECORD LOW LEVEL. CHEESE MARKET STEADY. Prices for New Zealand salted butter on the London market last week reached a new record low level of 63s for first and 65s for finest quality, Is to 2s below the previous lowest prices in April and December of 1933, and January of this year. After finning slightly at the end of the previous week the London market last week was week and irregular, prices showing a drop of 3s on the week. Deliveries of New Zealand butter last week totalled 1800 tons, compared with 1969 tons for the previous week and 1800 tons a year ago. The quantity of New Zealand butter in store is still slowly decreasing, and last week was 8841 tons, compared with 11,148 tons a month ago and 4823 tons a year ago. The cheese market remained steady last week, with prices unchanged. Deliveries of New Zealand cheese last week totalled 20,077 crates compared with 11,657 crates a year ago, while the quantity in store was 104,973 crates, as against 90,000 crates a year ago.
