LEAGUE OF NATIONS
NEW PLYMOUTH BRANCH MEETS. DISCUSSION OF MANY SUBJECTS. A question evening was held by the New Plymouth branch of the League of Nations Union last night. Mr. M. Goldsbury presided over an attendance of 16 members. A very instructive evening was spent in discussing aspects of the League’s functions. There was a very definite desire among the members of the branch to learn more about the League, said Mr. Goldsbury. It was not possible for members of any organisation to be energetic unless they fully understood the objects of the particular body. All should be learners. He hoped all had come to the meeting prepared to ask questions pertaining to the League. He thought members should participate in answering the questions. By asking • questions and holding informal discussions members would gain a greater knowledge of the League aud its many activities and they would be;in; a position to spread the. knowledge over a very wide field. Mr. Goldsbury displayed a large map of the League of Nations' activities. The map, he said, was used in giving instruction to the senior pupils of the New Plymouth primary schools. It contained a considerable- amount of information in tabulated form and plainly showed the huge area over which, the League held interests. The map was used during the ensuing discussion.
