DECISION MADE IN CANADA. i PER CENT. FROM NOVEMBER 1. B; Telegraph—Press Assn.—Copyright. Ottawa, Oct. 11. The Minister of Finance, Mr. E. N. Rhodes, to-day announced that interest rates paid on savings deposits by all Canadian Chartered banks, the Dominion ' Post Office savings banks, and the Province of Ontario Government.; ' Savings Office would be reduced from 2| per cent, to 2 per cent. The reduction will be effective from November 1.
