FINES FOLLOW WELLINGTON RAID.
PREMISES IN TARANAKI STREET. By Telegraph—Press Association. Wellington, Last Night. Fines amounting to £lO5 were imposed in the Magistrate’s Court to-day upon three Chinese, who pleaded guilty to using premises in Taranaki Street as common gaming-houses. They were Harry Fun, aged 45, and Bing Shing, aged 48, who were each fined £4O, in default two months’ imprisonment, and Ah Chong, aged 41, who was fined £25 in default one month’s imprisonment.
The charges resulted from searches conducted by the police yesterday, said Sub-Inspector Roach. On the premises of the three accused the police found quantities of pakapoo paraphernalia. Chong had not previously been before the court, but last year for keeping a common gaming-house Fun was fined £4O and Shing £5O.
