WELCOME FOR DUKE
HUGE ADELAIDE CROWD FIGHTS TO GET A GLIMPSE VISIT PAID ROYAL SHOW ORIGIN OF CITY’S NAME By Telegraph—Press Assn— Copyright Rec. 10.15 p.m. Adelaide, Oct. 12. Over 150,000 people lining the streets gave Prince Henry an enthusiastic welcome to-day. The main ceremany was at the town hall where Prince George met prominent personalities, including the the Governor, Sir Winston Dugar, the Chief Justice, Sir G. J. Murray, the Premier, Mr. R. L. Butler, and the Lord Mayor, Mr. J. R. Cain. The streets were blazing with colourful decorations and there was bright sunny weather. The Duke later attended the royal show. Crowds everywhere fought to obtain a glimpse of the Royal visitor. In the course of his reply to the official welcome the Duke said the people were doubtless aware that their city derived a special connection with his family from the fact that it took its name from Queen Adelaide at the express wish of King William IV. Johnston, one of the Duke’s car drivers brought from England, fell into an engine ashpit at Tralee last night and received abrasions and possibly a broken rib. He received medical attention on the Royal train.
