DANCE AT OMATA
WOMEN’S DIVISION GATHERING. FUNDS OF BRANCH BENEFIT. There was a good attendance at the Omata hall on Thursday evening when the Omata branch of the W.D.F.U. held a successful dance for the funds of the branch. The hall was decorated with greenery and the tables with flowers and pink and green streamers. Mr. and Mrs. Roberts, New Plymouth,who judged a dancing competition during a medley, made the following awards: Women, Miss Mills 1, Mrs. L. Penwarden 2; men, Mr. Bellringer 1, Mr. Edgecombe 2. The first prizes for the competition were given bj Mr. and Mrs. Roberts and the other prizes by members of the committee. A lucky spot waltz was won by Misses Lethbridge and Wooldridge and a Monte Carlo dance by Mr. and Mrs. Leo. Penwarden. Music was provided by Martin’s orchestra, and Miss E. M. Sanger played an extra. Mr. E. Andrews was master of ceremonies. Home-made supper was served. A competition for a cake given by Mrs. Wilton was won by Mr. R. Knapman, junr., Oakura. The committee responsible for the gathering comprised Mesdames R. Penwarden L. Penwarden (secretary), E. Wilton, P. H. Mace, L. Hare, B. C. Kurth, A. W. Mace, W. E, Donald, N. Jury, N. Grace, L. George, Moreland, C. Gill and J. Holmes. Personal. Mr. and Mrs. G. Were, Morrinsville, are 'spending a holiday with Mrs. Were’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. D. Penwarden. • Mrs. Wallis, Napier, is staying with Mrs. A. J. Luxton. Mr. Bruce Wallis, who is in hospital, is making steady progress towards recovery. Mr. T. Allsop is a patient in the New Plymouth hospital. Mr. J. Wood is in a private hospital. Mr. Roy Penwarden, who is under-
going treatment for neuritus, is improving.
