Miss Peggy Wylds was the guest of Mrs. Wanklyn for the golf ball. Mrs. McAllum was a bridge hostess on Tuesday evening.

Mrs. Kohn senr. returned to Wellington On Saturday, having spent a lengthy holiday as the guest of Mrs. L. Kohn. Mrs. Cressy, who has been visiting her parents, Mr. and Mrs. D. Allen, has returned to Hawera.

Mrs G. Wilson, Hunterville, who has been the guest of Mrs. Snowden for a few days, left for Auckland this week. Mrs. Smith has returned to Urenui after a holiday with her sister, Mrs. J. Ross.

Miss Nancy Morrison, Masterton, who spent a few days as the guest of Mrs. H. McAllum, left yesterday morning. Mrs. Sutton, who has been visiting Mrs. Bayliss, Otakeho, returned home this week.

Mrs. Thompson has left for her home at Awatuna after visiting her parents, Mr. and Mrs. D. Allen.

Mesdames Dansie, Adnams and Miss Trimble visited Stratford last week for the British Drama League meetings. The croquet club held a flag five, hundred evening on Thursday. The winners were Misses Lovell, Zimmerman, Mrs. J. Egarr and Mr. William. Mrs. Rule, who has spent several weeks as the guest of Miss Johnston, Durham Road, left for Wellington on Wednesday.

Mesdames McAllum and I. Grant and Miss Enid McAllum were visitors to Wanganui on Friday for the golf championships.

The monthly meeting of the Arts and Crafts Circle was held at the home of Mrs. T. Lindsay last Wednesday. Mrs. Farquhar gave her final lesson in beaten brass work.

Members of the Norfolk Road branch of the W.E.A., met at the home of Miss Trimble on Thursday evening. The end of the Romantic Period was read. Mrs. Chapman, who has been the guest of Mrs. Tarry Martin, Mountain Road, left on. Monday to spend a week at Hawera en route to her home at Wanganui.

Mrs. Faris entertained at a bridge afternoon last Wednesday. Those present included Mesdames D’Arcy Robertson Reid (New Plymouth), Stevens, McAlister, Lyons (Stratford), Gray (Kaponga), Davies (Manaia), Stewart, Weir (Eltham), McAllum, Grant and Wanklyn.

Visitors to the Kaimata Institute party included Mesdames Adnams, Braybrooke, Lindsay, Smith, Franks, Jones, Peters, Codd, Miss Trimble, Mesdames. McAsey (Normanfiy), Jury (Norfolk), Miss Waite (Tarata), Mesdames Jamieson, Kerr, Blair (Tariki), Miss Burkhart (New Plymouth).

There was a large attendance at the complimentary social on Saturday in honour of Miss Mavis Sutton, who is to be married shortly. Mrs. Kohn, on be» half of the basket ball club and the junior branch of the Women’s Institute, presented Miss Sutton with a crystal table centrepiece. Music for dancing —nplied by Harris’ orchestra.

The Inglewood Golf Club held a successful ball on Thursday, the hall being artistically decorated. Music was provided by Hooker’s orchestra. The dance secretary was Mrs. H. Winter. Visitors were present from Hawera, Mangamingi, Eltham, Stratford, New Plymouth, Waitara, Tariki and Okato, etc. In brilliant sunshine the croquet club opened the season on Thursday afternoon with a .record attendance. Visitors from all parts of the district were present: Miss Grey and Mrs. Bublitz tied for the golf croquet competition. Mrs. Codd won the target competition and Mr. W. Spurdie the ladder. A cake given by Mrs. Somerton was won by Miss N. Lovell.
