TWO MEN RUN FROM THE POLICE.
• By Telegraph—Press Association. Waipukurau, Sept. 17. Thieves early this morning broke into Yates’ cash store through a skylight, stealing practically all the tobacco stock. They also entered W. Boyer’s billiard saloon by a rear window, but nothing is missing. . , From a petrol pump outside Wells garage 25 gallons of petrol were stolen after the lock had been removed. It is understood that the nightwatchman had suspicions regarding this episode and advised the local police and the police at Takapau, where a constable stopped a car travelling south, from which two men ran away.
