BRITISH AEROPLANES
NEW COMPANY FORMED. AMBITIOUS PROGRAMME. London, Sept. 4. In addition to launching a company with a capital of £3,000,000 to increase its production of aeroplanes and to manufacture its own engines. General Aircraft, Limited, has concluded the purchase, for £lOO,OOO, of Hanworth aerodrome. Officials deny reports that the company will inaugurate a new air service to Australia, but one of its most active directors is Mr. W. S. Stephenson, who is also a director of the British Pacific Trust, which is negotiating for the expansion of Australian air lines. Tlie company will produce a light, twoengined, low-winged Monospar aeroplane, with a retractable undercarriage, seating from six to 10 people, and later will build a larger machine. I'. built the Monospar machine that will be shipped to the Australian Civil Aviation Department next week.
Tlie new personnel includes Hollis Williams. the designer of the G.A.X. Fairey record-breaking aeroplanes.
