NOT MAKING ANY EXCUSES

JUST PUZZLED BY SOME RULINGS. ALL BLACKS LOSE TO BETTER MEN By Telegraph—Press Assn—Copyright. Sydney, Sept. 15. The New South Wales Rugby Union has received a letter from Mr. A. J. Geddes explaining the reported attack on Australian referees. Mr. Geddes says: “Upon arrival in Wellington we were rushed by reporters. I told them of the difficulties we had had in the early games in regard to various interpretations which were puzzling to us in connection with the off-side and front row rule, more particularly in the first test. I wanted them strictly to understand that we were not making any complaint or excuses for our defeat, as we were well and truly beaten by a better side.” Mr. Geddes concludes: “I sincerely trust that I have cleared the air and that the good opinion the people of Australia had of the team will still be retained.”
