PERSONAL
Sympathy with the relatives of the late Mr. J. A. Austin was expressed at last night’s meeting of the New Plymouth Little Theatre Players. The death has occurred of Sir Ernest Wild, Recorder of London and High Steward of Southwark since 1922, states a London cable.
The Rev. P. Sergei, who refereed the Taranaki-Waikato Rugby match on Wednesday, is a former Taranaki resident. His father lived at Pungarehu and at New Plymouth, being one of the earliest agricultural instructors under the Taranaki Education Board. The Rev. Mr. Sergei is a cousin of Mr. W. Rutherford, the ex-Taranaki and Old Boys player, who is now in Hamilton. Owing to the sudden illness of his father the Rev. R. S. Coldham Fussell, vicar of Whangamomona, has been called away urgently to Waimate North. All Mr. Fussell’s confirmation classes and schools have therefore had to be cancelled, also services at Purangi, Matau, Kiore and Makohu. Mr. Fussell hopes to be back in Whangamomona next Wednesday morning.
