I Misses D. Alleman and R. Klenner are holiday-making at Auckland. Mrs. Syme, Mountain Road, is visiting Auckland. Misses J. and B. Franklyn have returned from a holiday at Wellington. Mrs. C. Corbett, Gisborne, is visiting her mother, Mrs. Leslie. Mrs. McGowan has returned to her home from a short visit to Auckland. Miss J. Allen, Wellington, is visiting Inglewood. Mrs. Birch-Johnston led the community singing at the social evening following the Stratford Golf Club dinner. Friends of Mrs. J. Winfield will be pleased to hear of the great progress she is making after an operation. Mrs. Coles is spending the week-end with her daughter, Mrs. I. Coldwell, Feilding. Mrs. R. Coles, who has been the guest of Mrs. lan Coldwell, Feilding, has returned. Mrs. L. Williams has returned to New Plymouth after visiting Mrs. L. Dobso.i, Suffolk Road. Mrs. lan Grant entertained at a supper party at her home after attending “Du Barry” at New Plymouth on Tuesday. Badminton visitors were entertained at supper at Adams Bruce tea rooms on Wednesday. Misses M. Robinson and T. Hussey, Wanganui, are the guests of Miss H. Corney. Mrs. lan Caldwell has returned to Feilding after a visit to her mother, Mrs. Coles. Mrs. D. McAlister, who has been visiting her Tate, Waitara, has returned. Mrs. E. Newland, Eltham, who is making her home at Inglewood, arrived this week. Among those present at the Stratford Anglican Mothers’ Union social afternoon on Wednesday were Mesdames Wearne, Leech, Maetzig, Kivell and Crossman. The municipal band entertained honorary members at a social evening on Tuesday at the parish hall. Games, competitions and dancing were enjoyed. Mrs. Mulholland won the competition. The Norfolk Road branch of the W.E.A. met at the residence of Miss Trimble on Thursday evening, when the life of Tennyson and several of his poems were read and enjoyed by a large gathering of members. Amongst the visitors to New Plymouth for the “Du Barry” and “Waltzes From Vienna” were Mesdames F. Cameron, Judd, I. Grant, Torrens, Wearne, Gow, Faris, Scanlan, Wanklyn, R. Brown, R. B. Young, Cutfield, Kohn, H. McAllum, Birch-Johnston, Leech, Misses M. and E. McAllum, James, Fetch and Trewin (2) and Leech. A pleasant afternoon was spent at the Presbyterian hall on Friday in aid of the fancy stall for the forthcoming bazaar. Miss Fenwick and her pupils, Mrs. Braybrooke (elocution) and Mrs. Paynter (song) entertained. The hostesses were Mesdames Gibbs, Mulholland and Farquhar.

Many friends of Mrs. H. Masters assembled on the station on Wednesday to bid her bon voyage, when she leit for Auckland, where she joined the Wanganella to visit Sydney and Melbourne for the centenary celebrations. Mrs. Masters was presented with a bouquet, and streamers of many hues made a gay scene.

A jolly' dance was arranged by the women members of the Stratford Golf Club and was held in the Windsor tea rooms after the club dinner. Tire music was supplied by Waite’s orchestra, and a novel supper was served. Some of those present were Mesdames R. B. Anderson, Yarndley, Fryday, Mark, Pegg, Green, Morris, Ryan, Neal, Sole, R. Sullivan, Melville, Marsh, Curd, L. Penn, E. Anderson, N. Ennis, McMillan, M. Porrit, D. Mann, A. Hardy Jones. Mrs. Birch Johnson, Inglewood, led community singing.
