NOVEL WEAPON

FLASHES FROM PISTOL.

BLINDING OF VICTIMS.

Paris, .Sept. 3.

A pistol “capable o( projecting flashes of 1,000,000 candle-power and blinding anyone within its radius,” has been offered to the French Government by a German inventor named Keilhaus, according to the newspaper Midi. The pistol, it is asserted, is capable of disabling navigators, airmen, gunners, tank-drivers and infantry completely. Experiments have been effective on animals at a distance of half a mile.

A powder of 15,000 candle-power, detonated in the firing chamber, provides the flash. The weapon is operated like a revolver.

The Midi does not explain why Keilhaus should leave Germany and offer his invention to France.
