LOAN TO ASSIST BUILDING
FRENCH 79,000-TON NORMANDIE.
STATE GUARANTEEING INTEREST.

The Compagnie Generale Tpansatlantique has floated a loan of nearly £1,000,000 to cover the construction of the 79,000-ton ship to be called the Normandie. The Government guarantees the interest under the convention, which provides an annual subsidy of £40,000 to £120,000 in return for the mail and other services the Normandie will render.
