FINE BLOOMS OF SPRING
ANNUAL EVENT AT MANAIA F. R. PEPPERELL’S NARCISSI BEST. MRS. CHRISTIE IN CUT FLOWERS. A fine exhibition of spring blooms was made at the Manaia Presbyterian Church’s twenty-fourth annual spring flower show yesterday. Record entries were received, over 100 more than last year. The blooms were of a high standard, and the judges were greatly pleased. The mantelpiece decorations and miniature rock gardens were particularly commented on. The champion bloom in the narcissi section was shown by Mr. F. R. Pepperell with Silver Dawn. In the cut flowers section the champion bloom was shown by Mrs. A. H. Christie. The stewards were: Narcissi, Mesdames A. G. Bennett and W. R. Anton; cut flowers, Misses M. Armitage, M. Mitchell and N. Franklin; decorative, the Rev. R. Miller. The tea rooms were supervised by Mrs. W. J. McDonald and Mrs. N. C.Innes. A jumble stall was conducted by Mesdames J. W. Paterson, H. Mead and G. Stoddart and was well patronised. Hoopla was supervised by Misses L. Reardon, and I. Walker, and a shooting gallery by Messrs. J. Vernor and M. Ingrain. The prize list is:— CUT FLOWERS. Judge: Mr. C. Goodson. Points prize: Mrs. A. H.
