DEATH OF NAVAL OFFICER. LONG SERVICE IN SUBMARINES. By Telegraph—Press Assn—Copyright. London, Sept. 9. The death has occurred of Sir John Guy Moncrieff. The late commander Sir John Moncrieff had a distinguished career in the Navy, especially during the war. He was captured in 1916 while serving in submarine E on the Dutch coast and was held prisoner in Holland. He served at the blockade of Venezuela in 1902-03, in the Royal yacht for a year, and then for 13 years was in the submarine service except for 1912, when he was in H.M.S. Drake, the last Imperial flagship on the Australian station. He retired in 1920.
