NEW GOLF CLUB FORMED
PROPOSED COURSE AT WESTOWN. PROVISIONAL COMMITTEE CHOSEN. The enthusiasm being shown regarding the proposal to form a golf club at Westown was shown by the attendance at the West End bowling pavilion last night, when Mr. J. Lobb presided over' 30 to 40 persons. The chairman explained the project. The proposed site, he said, was on Mr. C. Clarke’s property at Westown. The property had been visited by Mr. P. Grey and a plan had been drawn up. Mr. Grey said he had inspected the property. There were no difficulties regarding the flat portion in the front, but some clearing which would be necessary in the back portion. Mr. Clarke had assured him that this would be done. Mr. Clarke explained the improvements he was prepared to carry out. Mr. R. G. Howell said the numbers of intending members was most encouraging, nearly 100 having expressed their intention of joining. Mr. A. J. Coad moved that a club be formed. This was seconded by Mr. W. L. Wagstaff and carried unanimously. The following were elected a provisional committee: Messrs. A. J. Coad, A. K. Smart, J. Lobb, W. Wood, K. A. Thomson, W. L. Wagstaff, R. Hooker, W. S. Thomson and M. Lobb, hon secretary pro tern, Mr. R. G. Howell. This committee will consider the whole position and report to another full meeting.
