ND A. Instal Modern Plant in New Waiokura and Mangatoki Branch Dairy Factories.

, M . n . Association has been entrusted the installation of the complete plant in the new Waiokura Dairy Factory, and the new Kaponga Branch of the Mangatoki Dairy Company, both factories commencing To the a ion season w ith equipment equal to anything in Taranaki.

PASTEURISER AND SEPARATOR. The usual universal type of pasteuriser (Silkeborg at Kaponga) is used, and an 1850gallon capacity Alfa-Laval Separator (Westfalia at Kaponga) is installed. Again in the case of the pump for supplying whey to the suppliers’ whey tank, tinned brass tubing is used with a steam connection to sterilise the whey pipe daily. STARTER VAT. A special starter vat is provided, 'and the usual heaters and coolers for making cultures. Adjoining the factory is a special provision for suppliers to wash and sterilise their cans at the factory.

Agencies include:—Silkeborg Dairy Machinery; Steel Bodied Vats with the famous N.D.A. linings; Sterilisers and Coolers for the farm; full* stocks of Milk and Cream Cans and Buckets; Weighing Machines and Scales overhauled, renovated and adjusted. National Dairy Association. The Complete Dairy Factory Service Organisation, NEW PLYMOUTH HAWERA AUCKLAND WELLINGTON

900-GALLON RECEIVING VAT. The 900-rgallon milk receiving vat has a body of tinned steel with tinned copper bottom. The cooling apparatus above the vat consists of twenty 20ft. tubes of 2in. solid drawn tinned brass tubing. Brass is infinitely superior to copper, because the milk passes through the tubes without any metallic flavour, as in the case of copper, even when the tinning goes off. CONTROLLED MILK FLOW. Tinned brass tubing is used instead of chuting to convey the milk to the vats, the flow being controlled by a 3-way valve. Walkingplanks along the sides of the cooler facilitate proper washing and cleansing.

MODERN VATS. At Waiokura there are 8 modern vats, the vat bodies being of copper-bearing steel plate, and the linings of special quality steel imported direct by the N.D.A. The vats are built with a fall specially suited for the making of highgrade cheese, special provision being made folproper drainage of whey. V-BELT DRIVE. All the shafting operates on ball-bearings, the drives being by 10 h.p. and 3 h.p. motors, with, the use of V belt drives instead of ordinary belts or chains. • ... i Each agitator is stayed separately with galvanised piping, and the whole is firmly held in place by horizontal lines giving strength and solidity.
