WAKENED BY PET PARROT
WOMAN IN BURNING DWELLING. HOUSE AT AFRISTON 5 * DESTROYED By Telegraph—Press Association. Auckland, Last Night. The screams, of her pet parrot warned Mrs. D. E. Simpson, Afriston, that her house was afire. -Mrs. Simpson was asleep when she was awakened by the frightened scre.ams of the parrot, which was in a cage in the bedroom. “Bexquiet,” admonished Mrs. Simpson, but the l?ird was so persistent that she rose to investigate. She found, the adjoining sitting room in flames. The dwelling, which was of five rooms ' and built of kauri, was quickly destroyed in spite of the efforts of several neighbours.
