Bradman gave a dazzling display in compiling 132 runs in 90 minutes in a cricket match between H. D. G. Leve-son-Gower’s eleven and Australia at Scarborough. McCabe, with 123 not out and Ponsford with 92, contributed largely to the total of 442 for five wickets Australia had reached when stumps were drawn for the day. Tire teams are:— Australia: Woocuull (captain), Ponsford Brown, Bradman, McCabe, Darling, Chipperfield, Oldfield, O’Reilly, Fleetwood-Smith, Ebeling and Barnett (twelfth man). Leveson-Gower’s: Wyatt (captain), Human, Fames, Sutcliffe, Leyland, Verity, Hendren, Townsend, Nichols, Bowes and Duckworth. The weather was delightful and the wicket good. There was an attendance o f 14 > 000 - ' J . Woodfull won the toss and batted. Brown was early dismissed by one of Leveson-Gower’s fast battery, after which the amazing Bradman gave one of his most exhilarating displays, scoring 132, comprising 24 fours and one six, in 90 minutes. It was a fitting climax to this great batsman’s display on the present tour. He is also the first Australian to complete 2000 runs. Fames might have had Bradman at 14, Wyatt in the gully missing a difficult catch. Thereafter he punished all the bowlers mercilessly, taking 19 off one of Verity’s overs. He has thus scored a century on each appearance at a Yorkshire ground in the current season. He was stumped in trying a bit hit off VerPonsford went on quietly and soundly. McCabe when six was missed by Verity, who started too slowly. Ponsford went out when he drove one hard back to the bowler, Nichols. He batted 150 minutes and hit ten fours. Woodfull was unhappy against Bowes and fell a victim to Verity after a dull half hour. Darling hit right across Bowes and lost his off stump. Chipperfield was at first subdued, but eventually settled down. He and McCabe were batting vigorously when stumps were drawn, although McCabe was badly missed at 92 and 111 off Verity and Bowes respectively. The scores are:— AUSTRALIA.
