I , Miss Blott, who has been the guest of Mrs. Comey, Egmont Village, left for Te Kuiti on Monday en route to Auckland. Mrs. A. Hamilton, who has been the guest of her parents, Dr. and Mrs. McAllum, left for her home at Lower Hutt on Saturday. “Dethronement,” by Laurence Houseman, was enjoyed by members of the Norfolk Road branch of the W<E-A. at Miss Trimble’s on Thursday evening. Amongst the visiting presidents at the institute celebrations were Mesdames Cummings (Waitara), Robinson (Motunui), Blair (Tariki), Gibbons (Kaimata), Standish (Tarata), W. Brown (Norfolk Road) and Honnor (Huirangi). The teachers and children of the Inglewood school at an afternoon party presented Miss P. Nicholson with several gifts as a token of esteem in which she is held. Hostesses this week entertaining for Miss P. Nicholson, formerly a mistress at the Inglewood school, who left yesterday to take up a position in the Cambridge district, were Mesdames J. Wilson, Eaves and M. Sutherland. The Inglewood Basketball Club met at Somerton’s rooms on Thursday to bid farewell to Miss P. Nicholson, who has been coach to the team during the season. A handsome cut glass scent bottle was presented to Miss Nicholson. Mrs. G. Tait is to spend a short holiday at Hawera before returning to New Plymouth, where she will spend several weeks with her mother, Mrs. Huggins. A reunion of Nelson College old girls was held at the residence of Mrs. R. H. Sinclair on Saturday afternoon. The hostesses were Mesdames Sinclair, W. Kaye, R. Brown, Norcross and McLean (Kaimata). The members of the Presbyterian Church held a social evening in honour of Mr. and Mrs. G. Tait, who are leaving shortly. Musical items by Mrs. Faris, elocution by Mesdames Braybrooke and Miss Bracegirdle and songs by Messrs. Smith, Blight and Kohn were given. Mr. J. Ross in the absence of the Rev. Mr. Keenan spoke of the good work done by Mr. and Mrs. Tait and presented them with a beaten brass firescreen and the Misses Tait each received a book. To farewell Mrs. G. Tait past and present members of the Inglewood Plunket committee met at the residence of Mrs. S. Wanklyn on Monday afternoon. A competition was won by Mrs. Faris. Mrs. Wanklyn presented Mrs. Tait with a handsome bouquet made by Mrs. Torrens, and the Mayoress presented a solid brass tray. Songs were given by Mesdames Faris, Torrens and Birch-John-ston. Mrs. Braybrooke recited. Amongst the guests were Mesdames T. Drake, Farquhar, W. Smith, I. Grant, Winter, Farquhar, Gibbs, Baker, Kaye, M. Evans, Judd, Leech, Twist, Wearne, R. Brown, Torrens, Braybrooke, Faris and BirchJohnston.
