Bingham, presided at a meeting of. the Board of Trade wheat- -advisory committee. _ A communique issued later stated that the United States’ delegation reported that the failure of this year’s crops following on the poor crop of the previous year had greatly modified the reasons which led the United States Administration to adopt the acreage reduction, in order to improve the position of the American wheat farmer. The United States Government was prepared to take the necessary steps to prevent the area sown in wheat from rising above the level to which it had ■ been reduced this year provided other countries were ready to continue their general effort to adjust the wheat production to the demand. The delegation added that the reduction in acreage brought about in the United States had been of sufficient magnitude to represent on. the average yields over the past ten years of about 100,000,000 bushels of wheat.
