AGREEMENT RUMOURED
GERMAN DEBTS AND WOOL NEED OF IRAW MATERIALS BRITISH NEGOTIATIONS. RESTRICTION ON COTTON By Telegraph—Press Assn.—Copyright. London, Aug. 3. The Yorkshire Observer mentions a strong rumour bearing on the wool position, that the British representatives who went to Berlin reached an agreement for the more or less satisfactory liquidation of Germany’s overdue accounts and the release of capital for further trading. It indicates that Germany is realising the need for increased raw materials and therefore there is increased likelihood of German support for the Australian sales. The Lancashire cotton yam exporters at a special meeting decided to suspend all deliveries to Germany pending a satisfactory settlement of outstanding German debts estimated at £500,000. This affects 50,000 cotton operatives.
