INSTRUCTION IN RELIGION
BIBLE IN SCHOOLS LEGISLATION.
EFFORTS LIKELY THIS SESSION.
(By Wire—Parliamentary Reporter.) Wellington, Last Night.
A determififed effort will be made during this session of Parliament to have Bible in schools legislation passed. A Bill will be introduced in the House of Representatives next week by Mr. H. Holland (Christchurch North) providing for religious instruction. In structure it will be similar to those of other - years, with the exception that instead of teachers having to apply for exemption from giving religious instruction, those who wish to do so will have to make application for that right. If the measure is passed by the House Sir James Allen will take charge of it in the Legislative Council.
Up to the present no request has been made to the Government to give facilities for the passage of the measure.
