MUZAFFARPUR EARTHQUAKE

Calcutta, June 2.
Following heavy rain in the past few days there was another severe earthquake at 1 o’clock this morning at Muzaffarpur where 2500 were killed in January. The whole town was severely shaken many damaged walls of houses collapsing. Thus far no casualties are reported. The population has been a state of panic since sunset yesterday, when the atmosphere was hot and deadly still, an hour later there was a terrific hailstorm. The town was plunged into darkness and telephones and telegraphs were dislocated.
The tremors lasted five seconds. They were preceded by a peculiar humming noise. The shock was felt at Calcutta.
