MACHINE CATCHES CLOTHES

ENGINEER’S SKULL FRACTURED.

FINDING AT DUNEDIN INQUEST.

By Telegraph—Press Association.

Invercargill, June 2.

At an inquest regarding the death of Robert Scott Cree Brown, consulting engineer, Dunedin, whose skull was fractured when his clothing caught in the machinery of a Diesel engine at a mining company’s plant at Slope Point, the engineer in charge said Brown was supervising tests and apparently passed in front of the engine, his coat being caught on the revolving crank shaft, which at the time was not protected as the engine had been repeatedly stopped and started under his instructions all morning. He was careful and was not likely to take risks. A verdict of accidental death was returned.
