After breaking into- a house at Middlepark a well-dressed, masked man shot Sipicione Labatagalia, who is a bookmaker. He then broke down, apologised, and offered to render first aid to his victim’s thigh wound. A family council followed, and after the repentant intruder had promised to go straight in future he was allowed to leave, taking his revolver with him. Labatagalia left his bed to procure a rug ’ owing to the cold. He heard a noise and exclaimed, “Whose there. He immediately saw a young man pointing a pistol from a window. Labatagalia rushed in that direction and a scuffle ensued. The revolver was discharged, the bullet entering his thigh. It passed through the flesh and embedded itself in the floor. The bookmaker is not seriously injured.
