GOOD SAL? AT FEILDING. .. . Feilding, June 1. Best. quality fat lambs found a very strong market at to-day’s sale. With a keen demand prices were well above export schedule rates, but exporters’ representatives operated freely and secured practically the whole offering. Good quality lambs were on a par with last week’s rates, while plain and unfinished lines barely held their own. There was a small entry of fat ewes. Best quality met a keen demand at a slight increase in prices. The quality of the fat wethers was only medium, and met a fair demand. Store ewes, r.w. S.D. rams made better prices. Ewe lambs were in active demand. Best wether lambs were also in demand, and there was a fair demand for medium lambs. Store cattle had a medium yarding, and a total clearance was made at prices well up to recent rates, with a slight improvement for best cattle, though grown bullocks were somewhat easier. Fat cattle made average rates, equal to the schedule, namely, 20s per 1001 b. for ox beef, and 15s for cow. There was a fairly good demand for dairy house cows and springing cows and heifers. . Fat lambs: Primest 25s 6d, prime 26s 6d to 275, good 21s to 245, light and unfinished from 18s 6d. Primest ewes 22s 2d to 32s 6d, prime 21s to 21s 7d, good 18s to 20s, unfinished from 16s 2d, prime maiden ewes 24s lOd. Primest wethers 24s 6d, prime 22s Id to 23s 4d, good 21s, prime two-tboths 245. ' Stores: Four-year ewes r.w.- S.D. rams 21s to 21s 6d, four and five-year 235, five-year, good 21s to 24s 4d, others at 16s lOd, aged ewes 15s Id, 15s 2d to 16s, blackface lambs 14s 6d to 14s lOd, woolly lambs good 15s to 17s 7d, inferior from 12s 3d to 15s, wether lambs, good 15s 6d to 18s Bd, poor 12s Id, m.s. lambs 17s 7d, wethers 16s 9d. Dairy springing cows, good £4 17s 6d, others £3 to £3 17s 6d, springing heifers £3 7s 6d to £4, heifers r.w.b. £3 2s 6d to £3 10s, cows in milk £2 2s 6d to £2 IQs, heifers in milk £2, empty heifers 275, forward cows, good £2 6s to £2lss, others 29s to £2 Is, good steers £3 2s 6d, poor 30s, heavy bullocks, good condition £5 3s 6d. Pigs were in keen .demand, realising prices in advance of those ruling last week. Sheep: Ewes r.w. Southdown 19s to 19s 6d, fat ewes 18s to 19s, fat b.f. twotooths 18s to 22s 6d, forward empty ewes 14s 6d to 15$, fat lambs 18s to 245, forward b.f. lambs 14s 6d to 16s, w.f. shorn lambs 10s 6d to 12s 6d. Cattle: Springing cows to £5 15s, cows due August-September 27s to 355, P.A. heifers 325, fat cows £2 3s to £2 10s, forward cows 33s 6d to 37s 6d, empty cows 21s to 255, store cows 17s to 18s 6d, weaners 7s to 11s. Porkers 19s to 295, slips 13s to 16s 6d. MOUNT LYELL REFINERY CLOSED. Wellington, June 2. The Mount Lyell Company cabled the Stock Exchange Association that owing to .lack of rainfall the refinery closed yesterday to conserve power. All other operations will continue.
