Eltham won a junior school match against Matapu by 8 points to 3. COASTAL DIVISION. First Junior. Okato 17 v. Oaonui 3. Warea 17 v. Rahotu 10. In the first junior competition Clifton gained its fifth successive victory in as many matches, defeating Old Boys at the New Plymouth racecourse after a splendid game by eight points to nil. In the fifth grade Tukapa continued its unbeaten record and is now four points clear of School A, which beat Star by a very narrow margin and has played a match less than Tukapa. The fourth series of matches in the coastal junior competition saw no change in the leadership, Okato and Warea maintaining their unbeaten positions. In a hard-fought game Warea defeated Ra- ; hotu at Warea by 17 points to 10, whilst at Oaonui Okato defeated Oaonui by 17 points to 3. Next Saturday in the final series of the first round Okato and Warea will meet at Okato. \ CARLSON CUP RETAINED OHURA DEFEATS TAUMARUNUI. MORGAN’S GREAT SCORING DAY. The Ohura sub-union representatives retained the Carlson Cup by defeating Taumarunui by 16 points to 6 at Ohura on Saturday. A special train from Taumarunui brought a large number and the attendance was swollen by spectators who came from all parts of the Ohura district The game was fast and of a good standard, though the conditions were against good handling.
