DEATH OF MR. J. A. HICKS
WELL-KNOWN WAIKATO SETTLER.
Mr. Thomas A. Hicks, who came to New Zealand in 1872 in the ship Alhambra, in which he was born, and who has resided at Cambridge all his life, died on Saturday, aged 62 years. He was one of the well-known Waikato settlers and was prominent in local body work. At the time of his death Mr. Hicks was chairman of the Leamington Town and Domain Boards and chairman of the Reform party organisation in Cambridge, the Waikato central show and other bodies. He was unmarried and is survived by two sisters and other relatives.
