There is nothing effeminate about some of New Zealand's young folk. This week a News reporter had occasion to visit a dance held about 18 miles from New Plymouth. It was after midnight when he arrived, just in time to see a party of four starting tor a bigger gathering at New Plymouth, “I suppose you will have to be back in time for the morning milking?” one of the party was asked. “Oh, yes,” he replied, “but we are only milking 50 cows at present.” An evening programme that included milking 50 cows and attendance at two dances 20 miles apart can scarcely be called lackadaisical. Stratford old boys of the New Plymouth High School will hold their first annual ball on Monday night at the Stratford town hall. All old boys and friends are cordially invited.
