j Miss May Donaldson, Timaru, is I spending a holiday at Stratford and is the guest of Mrs. Whitworth. Mrs. Meek, Auckland, is the guest of Mrs. S. Porrit. Mrs. W. "Campbell, Wanganui, is the guest of Mrs. Fraser, Victoria Road. Mrs. S. Findlay has returned to Auckland after a visit to her parents, Mr. and Mrs. C. W. Walsh. Miss D. Fraser, Auckland, is staying with her people at Victoria Road. Mrs. Huckstep has returned to Auckland after a visit to Cardiff. Mrs. J. Burt, who has been the guest of Mr. and Mrs. Lewers, has returned to Auckland. Mrs. H. Sharpe, Auckland, has returned after a visit to her father, Mr. Sanderson. Mrs. J. Spence entertained at an enjoyable bridge afternoon on Tuesday, when her guests were Mesdames R. Curtis, L. Jardine, A. Coleman, D. Malone, L. Furrie, J. Cresswell, T. King, E. Jeffries, N. Douglas. Mrs. G. Hall gave an enjoyable bridge evening on Tuesday. Those present included Mr. and Mrs. E. Cutfield, Mr. and Mrs. North, Mesdames T. King, Fredric, Richards, McDowell, Meek (Auckland), Misses M. Porrit, Close and Mr. Osborne. Mrs. Anderson, Pembroke Road, entertained members of the reading circle at her residence on Thursday, when there were present Mesdames Richards, Urwin, Newell; R. Tyrer, G. Hall, Robertson, Misses Wilson, Naish, M. Porrit, Malone. Mrs. B. Armstrong was “at home” to some of her friends on Thursday afternoon. Those present were Mesdames Thomson, R. Tyrer, Amess, G. Carter, McDowell and Turner. Mrs. R. Masters entertained at a bridge afternoon on Wednesday. Those present were Mesdames Fredric, A. Coleman, J. Lyons, McDowell, A. Hugo, H. Masters, DouZas, E. McCullough, Misses J. Coleman, B. and 0. Masters, M. Lyons. When members of the Anglican Mothers’ Union met at the parish hall items were given by Mrs. Stokec (elocution) and Mrs. W. Harris (songs). Mrs. Hughson was accompanist. Those present were Mesdames Galbraithe, C. Penn, Whitworth, F. Dixon, Erickson, Childs, Coward, H. C. Johnson, Bottcher, Hewitt, Carryer, Liddingtoh, Pepperill, Woollston, Bingham, Martyn, W. Harris, Lay, Powell, Campbell, Irving, Hughson, Atkinson, Feek, le Compt, Pugh, Stokes, Patterson, Miss Taylor. Afternoon tea was in the charge of Mesdames Childs, Hewitt, Coward and Patterson.
Among those .present at the Jersey Breeders’ Association reunion on Thursday were Mesdames Gadsby, C. Williams, B. Bellringer, Ross, Kay, Bell, Bennett, Carley, Black, Mander, Goble, Smith, A. O’Sullivan, D. O’Sullivan, H. Hunt, Crosby, Myers, Bell (New Plymouth), Morgan (Mangatoki), Alleman (Inglewood), Misses H. and A. Grant, E Gadsby,. M. Curd E. Moon, Belcher (2), Cartwright (2), Mander, Goble, BeV (2), Allen (New Plymouth), D. Seddon, Bell (New Plymouth), M. Wilson.
An enjoyable evening was spent at the Parish hall on Monday, when the Church of England held a social. Concert items were given by Mrs. Stephen, Rogers’ Orchestra, Miss Mehrtens, Mr. W. Hall, the Rev. McFarland and Miss Joan Cresswell. Supper was served by the ladies and music for dancing was supplied by Mr. Feek. Amongst those present were Mr. and Mrs. Cutfield, Mr. and Mrs. W. Mclnnes, Mr. and Mrs. Stevens, Mr. and Mrs. Walker, Mr. and Mrs. Johnson, Mr. and Mrs. Powell, Mr. and Mrs. Whitworth, Mr. and Mrs. Whittington, Mr. and Mrs. Graham, Mr. and Mrs. Mills, Mr. and Mrs. Edwards, Mr. and Mrs. Olliver, Mr. and Mrs. Hickson, Mr. and Mrs. Feeek, Mesdames Cresswell, F. Tyrer, Thorpe, A. Moss, R. Tyrer, N. H. Moss, Maunsell (Toko), Galbraithe, Erickson, Vincent, Dixon, Liddell, McKay, Stephens, Dymond, Coward, Anstice, Childs, Misses Middleton (2), Johnson (2), Mills (2), N. Thorpe, J.
