BE INTERESTED IN
Local affairs. It isn’t fair to agitate when something is done that affects you if you haven’t taken the slightest notice of local politics for ten or fifteen years. The doings of your» children, in their lessons, in their friends, in their hobbies. By so doing, you will be a chum as well as a parent—a very enviable relationship. All the rooms of your home, not only in those which are the most interesting and the most used.
Other people’s interests, and thereby earn their interest in yours. You can’t expect folk to go into raptures over your garden, for instance, if you have said in the past: “What a noisy wireless that is 1” when they have switched it on specially for your approval. The advertisement pages of newspapers and magazines, and you’ll be surprised at the number of bargains you will be able to pick up. Your growing children’s love affairs. Don’t make the mistake of saying: “Oh you’re young yet, and you’ll grow out of it!”
Things. Really interested, and you’ll find yourself better fitted to enjoy life. It is a mistake to assume that things you don’t know anything about are uninteresting. Make up your mind to find out for yourself why other people are •attracted by them. Be interested—and live !
