TOKEN PAYMENT BY BRITAIN. ■THE QUESTION OF DEFAULT. By Telegraph—Press Assn.—Copyright. London, May 30. The Sun understands that following to-day’s Cabinet meeting a Note is shortly being dispatched to President Roosevelt proposing a further token payment on' June. 15 pending final settlement of the war debts. Assurances will be sought, that the token payment will not be construed as default.
It is likely that if the United States regards the token payment as default Britain will pay nothing, but there is no finality pending further conversations with Washington.
