RECORDS FOR NORTH TARANAKI.

The bright sunshine recorded in May was 162.5 hours, which was above the average figure. The wind was generally between south-east and south-west. At times there were gusts of gale force, but generally it was not more than a strong wind. On May 17 at 5.15 p.m. a tornado came in from the sea near the harbour and travelled in a south-easterly direction. It unroofpd several houses and brought down some trees. It died away after going about five miles.
